Probability Revision for GCSE Maths (with Examples and Questions)
Probability is the study of how likely events are to occur, providing a way to measure uncertainty and make predictions based on data.
At GCSE level, students explore a range of topics, including Basic Probability, Relative and Expected Frequency, Probability of Combined Events, Tree Diagrams, and Sample Spaces. For extended students, the concept of Conditional Probability is also introduced, adding depth to their understanding of probabilities in more complex scenarios.
GCSE Probability Topics
This video is a summary of most of the probability topics covered in GCSE maths.
Conditional Probability
Conditional probability is the chance of something happening, given that something else has already happened. It’s a key concept for understanding how events can depend on each other.
An example is picking a ball from a bag, not replacing it, and then picking another. The probability of the second pick depends on what was chosen first. Tree diagrams are a useful way to calculate
The rest of the lesson on probability is not quite ready, but if you already know what you're doing, we have practice questions linked below.
